A Banner Week For Skyland Farm

Meghan Finlay and Chabaluba Sun

It was a banner weekend for Skyland Farm and teams from Blue Rock in Pennsylvania to Morven Park and Keswick in Virginia during May 19-21!

Meghan Finlay and her Chabaluba Sun starred at Blue Rock, winning the highly competitive USHJA Junior/Amateur National Hunter Derby. Elizabeth Papez’s Carlido S earned an impressive third in the USHJA Professional National Hunter Derby with Hugh Mutch in the irons.

Additionally, Elise Hester and Foxlair Tango made their pony hunter debut at Blue Rock, winning a class and being awarded ribbons in every class in a competitive Children’s Large Pony Hunter division as well as being third in the combined Children’s Pony Hunter Classic.

Brynley Hester and Ivy Moon

Elise’s little sister, Brynley Hester, was Leadline champion with Ivy Moon, and Elise piloted her to numerous Small/Medium Children’s Hunter Pony ribbons.

Of course, our long-time team member Michele Trufant made a brief appearance with her wonderful partner Itchy Garrett, and, as usual, the pair had a successful outing.

Representing Skyland Farm at other venues this weekend included Paula Nevins and her amazing Thoroughbred Smooth Talk. They earned the Thoroughbred and Green Hunter Championships with stellar performances at Morven Park.

Additionally, Ava Papez and her wonderful pony, Valentino Rossi, who are Skyland winter team members, earned the championship in the 2’ Hunters at the Keswick Horse Show.

Congratulations to everyone on one of those special weeks of horse showing. We thank and acknowledge all the grooms, trainers and support systems that make this all possible!
