Excellent Results at Lexington National

Meghan Finlay and Sofia Car

The Skyland Farm team made their presence known in all three rings during the Lexington National Horse Show, held August 5-9 at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington.

Meghan Finlay and Sofia Car starred in the High Children's Jumpers, taking a victory and top ribbons in every class for championship honors. Meghan also earned good ribbons on Tory Burch in the Children's Hunter, 15-17, section, including a blue.

Michele Trufant and Itchy Garrett continued their tricolor summer with the championship in the Low Adult Amateur Jumpers. The pair placed first and second in the two jump-off classes and also won the Take2 Jumper class as an added bonus.

Michele and Dancing Ollie produced solid performances in the Thoroughbred and Adult Amateur Hunter, 50 and over, sections for a great collection of ribbons.

Mosie Pennington and Dreamscape kept their momentum going with the reserve championship in the Small Pony Hunters. They won two over fences classes and captured ribbons in every class for a consistent weekend together.

Emma Pell and Sarah Freidah’s Farnley Marathon also earned a reserve championship. Theirs came in the VPBA section, where they won an over fences class and earned three seconds.

Emma and Catano 29 took on the open jumpers at Lexington, placing seventh in the Open Welcome Stake, sixth in the 1.25 Open Jumpers and 12th in the $10,000 Open Classic.

Emma also focused on the VHSA/EMO Equitation Finals at Lexington. Aboard Ari 55, Emma placed seventh in the VHSA Flat Final. She also piloted Santos to sixth in the VHSA Junior Medal Final and was third in the Amy Reistrup Equitation Exhibition, with Meghan Finlay as her ground person. Emma also earned other ribbons in the equitation, including second in the VHSA/EMO Medal and fourth in the Platinum Performance/USEF Talent Search.

Mosie Pennington and Judy Hahn's Twizzler made their debut together and received nice ribbons in the VPBA section as well as the Pony Pleasure. "They will be a cute Small Pony combo in the future!" said trainer Denice Perry. "All the horses and riders where super this weekend. We had a great show!"
