Raking in Rosettes at Rose Mount
It was ribbons galore as the Skyland Farm team earned five show championships during the Rose Mount Farm Summer Horse Show, held July 23-26 in Spotsylvania, Virginia.
Sofia Car and Meghan Finlay sped to the High Children’s/Adult Jumper championship with a first and two seconds.
Farnley Marathon, owned by Sarah Freidah, captured the championship in the Virginia Pony Breeders Association section with Kacy Baumgart aboard.
The pair won the model and over fences to take the tricolor honors. They also earned numerous ribbons in the Schooling and Local Pony Hunters.
Dreamscape and Mosie Pennington continued their stellar show season. They earned two show championships in the Small Pony Hunter and Local Pony Hunter sections, respectively. Mosie was also fifth in the VHSA Pony Equitation on the Flat championship class.
Meghan Finlay and Chabalouba Sun where also superstars in four rounds of jumping, where she was called on top and/or won blue ribbons in the hunters and equitation. Meghan had a score of 87 in the THIS Medal and won both Non-Restricted Junior/Amateur-Owner Hunter over fences classes out of 25 entries for the championship. She also won the VHSA/EMO Junior Equitation on the Flat and was second in the MHSA Hunter Seat Medal.
"They where just an unbelievable pair to watch jump this weekend!" said trainer Denice Perry.
Meghan and her Tory Burch also had a blue in the 3’3” Junior Hunter, 16-17, section.
"We had a super show only showing five horses and earning five championships," said Denice. "It was a really nice horse show put on by a real horseman family and with great judging. The footing was so attentively cared for as well, with beautiful permanent stabling. They had bottled water everywhere, and everyone really adhered to social distancing. It was a great experience!"
