A Fantastic WIHS Regionals for Team Skyland

The Skyland Farm horses and riders enjoyed a banner show during the WIHS Regionals and USHJA Zone 3 Finals, held October 18-22 in Upperville, Virginia. With wins in the hunters, jumps and equitation, the team showed their all around excellence.

Lysa Burke Hutton’s Voila, ridden by Minnie Burke and Chiara Parlagreco, began the week with the reserve championship in a huge USHJA 3’ Hunter section. Viola placed first over fences and third under saddle for the tricolor. Minnie also showed Viola to excellent ribbons later in the week, with second in the Children’s Hunter, 14 and under, under saddle and fourth in the Modified Children’s Hunter under saddle.

Denice Perry’s Ollivander continued to show his winning form with championship results in the Schooling Pony Hunters with Eddyn Molden riding. The pair won two over fences classes and also earned good ribbons in the USHJA 2’ Hunters.

Eleanor Green and her Jus D’O won the VHSA Children’s Medal and also earned a variety of ribbons in the Children’s Hunters for a great show.

Michele Trufant and her partner Biaggi won the first 1.0M Jumper speed class and went on to collect top ribbons in the High Adult Jumpers.

Foxlair Tango and Elise Hester with Blue Label and Chloe Welsh

Chloe Welsh and Blue Label scored a win and another ribbon in the Children’s Large Pony section with lovely performances. Elise Hester and her Foxlair Tango showed their consistency in the same section, receiving a third and fourth in this highly competitive division.

To top off the last division of the show, Kathryn Canario’s famous eventing horse, Kiltubrid Rhapsody, showed his diversity once again by winning the Special Hunter championship with Chiara Parlagreco in the irons.

Paula Nevins and her lovely Thoroughbred Smooth Talk received top ribbons in the Baby Greens and Thoroughbred sections, with highlights being a win in the Baby Green under saddle in a competitive field.

Caitlin Horan and Michele Trufant celebrated the retirement of Prime Time, Michele’s 26-year-old veteran show horse, with beautiful rounds from both and a sash celebrating what a wonderful partner he’s been.
