Lots of Skyland Success at Loudoun
The Skyland Farm team had one of their best shows in recent memory during the Loudoun Benefit Horse Show, one of our hometown shows, held June 15-20 in Upperville, Virginia.
After returning from her freshman year in college, Meghan Finlay and Chabalouba Sun returned to the winner's circle. The pair earned championship honors in the 3’3” Amateur-Owner Hunter, 18-35, section and won the Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic over a competitive field of 24 entries. Trainer Denice Perry also claimed the 3'3" Performance Hunter reserve championship aboard the fancy chestnut after top ribbons in a section of 30 horses.

Over in the jumper ring, Meghan continued her winning ways with Sofia Car. The speedy duo earned the High Adult Jumper reserve championship with two second places, one in a speed class and the other in a jump-off class.
Virginia Fout and Carma picked up the championship in the 3’3” Amateur-Owner, 36 and over, section with three blue ribbons. Her daughter, Logan Whetstone, followed in her mother's footsteps, winning top ribbons in the Short Stirrup and Children's Ponies aboard Smilin Thru.

Carol Eichner's Wynnbrook Rosepoint, with Eddyn Molden in irons, was Virginia-bred Pony Hunter champion with three wins and a second, and Eddyn rode Mary Lou Glover's Blush to ribbons in the Green Ponies. Smilin Thru, with both Eddyn and Logan riding, was reserve champion in the Small/Medium Children’s Pony section.
Mosie Pennington made her debut in the jumpers with Skyland Farm's Cirena, placing second in her first jump-off class. She also guided Lapis to ribbons in the Children's Hunters, including an impressive second in the NAL/WIHS Children's Hunter Classic.

Lindsey Welsh and her two hunters Rocketeer and Kingsland had top ribbons in Adult Amateurs as well as Rocketeer being reserve champion in the USHJA Hunters with Chiara Parlagreco in the irons. Lindsey's daughter, Chloe Welsh, showed Yours Truly and High Hopes Sable in the Short Stirrup divisions, with many ribbons aboard both ponies. It was her debut with Skyland, and we're thrilled to have her join us!

Special thanks to the older girls in the barn for all of their help with Chloe and Logan in the Short Stirrup classes on Sunday. Meghan, Mosie and Brooke Ballhaus were amazing with the younger kids and helping to prepare them and their ponies for great performances in the show ring.
All of our jumpers had great Classic ribbons, too. Meghan and Sofia Car, Michele Trufant and Itchy Garrett, and Brooke on Little Gun.

We also welcomed Dorothy and Joe Stroh to the Skyland team. Dorothy has a talented young jumper she's bringing along, and Joe is getting back in the game with his For Pete’s Sake after a hiatus.
Skyland also thanks the staff for the exemplary job they did these two weeks of Upperville and Loudoun. They are an amazing team. Thank you Orlando, Elias, Roberto and Abelardo!
