A Fantastic Return to the Upperville Colt & Horse Show

Skyland Farm’s extensive ribbon banner was quite noticeable as you drove by the show on Route 50 after the team scored top ribbons during the show, held June 7-13 in Upperville, Virginia.

Lindsey Welsh made her presence known in the Adult Amateur, 36-49, section with her two talented mounts Kingsland and Rocketeer, respectively. Lindsey and Kingsland won the super competitive under saddle class, and she guided Rocketeer to second over fences.

In the Local Hunter Non-Pro Owner to Ride section, Lindsey picked up excellent ribbons with Kingsland, including a second over fences and third under saddle.

Across the road, Michele Trufant and her Itchy Garrett were winners in the Take 2 Thoroughbred Jumpers and earned numerous other ribbons in the Low Adult and Schooling jumper classes.

Eddyn Molden and her Fruitcake earned the Take 2 Thoroughbred Hunter Championship with impressive performances and blue ribbons over fences and under saddle.

Meghan Finlay (Chabalouba Sun), Mosie Pennington (Lapis) and Dorothy Stroh (Balou Z and For Pete's Sake) all had some beautiful rides as well as ribbons in the hunters and jumpers. Meghan reunited with Sofia Car and jumped to impressive rounds in the High Adult Jumpers.

Our houseguest Richard Cunkel and his beautiful pony Sachi, with Trexler Goodman in the irons, won a leadline section in one of the most hotly contested classes at the show!

We also congratulate Chloe Welsh on her debut with Yours Truly in the Walk- Trot division, where they placed third in the 8-10-year-old section. Chloe and her mom, Lindsey, also paired up to take third in Upperville’s traditional Family Class held in the main ring on Saturday afternoon.

We also thank Meghan and Mosie for all of their help with preparation for the Saturday’s classes.

“After missing the show last year due to the pandemic, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to show again under the oaks,” said trainer Denice Perry. “This show is always a highlight of our year, and I’m thrilled that everyone had such great results and so much fun.”
