Skyland Returns to the Show Ring at Tryon

Emma Pell and Catano 29

We're back and better than ever! After a long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Skyland Farm team returned to showing at the Tryon Summer 2 Horse Show, held June 17-21 in Mill Spring, North Carolina.

Tory Burch and Meghan Finlay - Sportfot

"It was really fun. All of the horses and riders who went had some great results," said trainer Denice Perry.

Mosie Pennington and Dreamscape won two classes in the Pony Hunters, including an impressive victory in a Small Pony Hunter over fences class. The pair also picked up other great ribbons, including a second over fences and third under saddle. Mosie also guided Yours Truly to ample ribbons in the Small Pony and Green Pony sections with some wonderful performances.

Sofia Car and Meghan Finlay - Sportfot

Over in the jumpers, Meghan Finlay and Sofia Car made their presence known in the High Children's Jumpers. They scored two second-placed ribbons in some tough company with great jumping.

Meghan and Tory Burch continued their winning streak from the winter shows with another blue and other ribbons in the 3’3” Junior Hunter, 16-17, section.

Emma Pell and Santos

Emma Pell and Catano 29 topped the Medium Junior/Amateur Jumper (1.30m) Speed class with a great round and also placed 10th in the Medium Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic. In addition, Emma piloted Santos to good ribbons in the Low Junior Jumpers for a super return to the show ring for the pair.

It's great to be back at the horse shows!

"We were all happy to be back at the horse shows," said Denice. "They don’t award ribbons at the rings now, so we pick them up later. However, the protocol of wearing masks and disinfecting jumps and bathrooms, etc., was followed beautifully. The number of competitors wasn't overwhelming, but there was super competition with top barns in attendance. Overall, we had a great experience and it was fun to be back at the shows!"
