Constitution Classic
Although the Skyland Farm team may be winding down their summer shows, the blue-ribbon results aren't slowing down. During the HITS Constitution Classic, held August 20-24 in Culpeper, Virginia, the Skyland Farm riders earned a variety of championships and awards.Alex Tippett made her last show a great one before she headed off to High Point College in North Carolina. She and El Cano jumped to Reserve Championship honors on the Zone 3 Children's Jumper team during the USHJA South Regional Children's/Adult Amateur Jumper Championship, held in conjunction with the Constitution Classic. By virtue of her excellent performances, Alex also took home the Individual Bronze Medal."I'm so proud of Alex. She and El Cano were fantastic, and we will all miss her as she heads off to college," said trainer Denice Perry.Wink And Smile and Virginia Bonnie collected the Small Pony Hunter Championship and won the Pony Hunter Classic, the latter for the second consecutive week.Joann Dana and The Impressionist also made a positive impression on the judges, claiming the Reserve Championship in the Novice Adult Hunter section.Denice also had a successful week in the show ring, riding Fantastic Mr. Fox to the Pre-Green Hunter Championship and piloting Say Again to the Reserve Championship in the 3'3" Performance Hunter section. She showed Elizabeth Wiley's lovely gray just one day and took home both blue ribbons over fences."All of the horses and riders received great ribbons, and it was a fun week at Culpeper," said Denice.The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge—that continued to go viral during the show—didn't go unnoticed by the Skyland Farm riders, who also participated for a very worthy cause!
