WEF Circuit Check In
Bordeaux and Lily Scheurich
The Skyland Farm team has enjoyed a great winter so far on the Winter Equestrian Festival circuit in Wellington, Florida, with a month left to show before we head home to Virginia.
We’ll start with WEF 8 and work backwards as the memories come flooding back on our wonderful January and February shows and activities.
Ollivander and Emi Richard
WEF 8, February 26-March 2, was a great week for Denice Perry’s Ollivander. He earned championship honors in the Medium Pony Hunters and won the Classic. “Congratulations and thank you to Emi Richard for her amazing rides, bringing ‘Oliver’ from a green pony last year to this year’s accomplishments,” said Denice. “Additional thank you’s to all of his support team and other riders including Kenzie Smith. It takes a village!”
Ava Papez made her Equitation 12-14 debut aboard Hamilton and made it look easy!

Michele Trufant and Let’s Go concluded their amazing WEF winter circuit during WEF 7 with super rounds in the jumpers, with the highlight being their third place in the 1.05m Amateur Jumper Classic out of 29 fierce adult competitors. They jumped double clear and fast to take a podium spot. “We are so proud of Michele and both of her horses this winter,” said Denice. “I will miss my friend and team member as she is heading back to Virginia. We look forward to their spring Skyland debut when we all get back from WEF. It was a super finale!”

WEF 7 also saw Lily Scheurich and Bordeaux wearing tricolors as they earned the Children’s Large Pony championship with two blues to their name. “It was a great weekend with her amazing partner,” said Denice of Lily and “Vinny.”
Skyland celebrated a wonderful WCHR Week 6, arguably the most competitive hunter week of the circuit. Emi Richard and Ollivander rocked it in the Medium Pony division, receiving top ribbons in every class including a win in the handy with a score of 88. Ava Papez and Hamilton and Lily Scheurich with Bordeaux earned super ribbons in their respective divisions as well as their classics.
Michelle, Denice and Roy ran the Strides For Hope 5K
Mondays were also fun days for team Skyland. On February 17, it was all about the two-legged athletes during the Strides For Hope 5K. “It was so much fun to share the morning with my wonderful daughter Michelle and husband Roy in supporting the Equestrian Aid Foundation,” said Denice. “Michelle also won her division. So proud!”
Likewise, the Skyland Farm team members Lily Scheurich and Chloe Welsh were superstars in their extracurricular activities. In their lip sync debut they opened for Gloria Gaynor at Danny And Ron’s Rescue “Woofstock” Party benefitting all the adoptable dogs. They won Best Lip Sync for their rendition of Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe.”

The first five weeks of WEF saw Chloe Welsh and Blue Label collecting excellent ribbons in the Children’s Large Pony Hunters, and those weeks were also great for Blush, as she jumped to ribbon-winning rounds in the Small Green Ponies. Blush is now proudly offered for lease and ready to win with a new partner. She was a superstar with everyone who rode her, including Kenzie Smith, Lily Scheurich, and Lucca Rossano.
