Skyland Farm horses and riders continued their excellent performances during Week 2 of the Winter Equestrian Festival circuit in Wellington, Florida, January 20-24.Emma Pell and Checkmate starred in the highly competitive Medium Pony Hunter section, winning the Handy round in a field of 33 entries. Emma also guided Virginia Bonnie's Wink And Smile to two second-placed ribbons over fences in the Small Pony Hunters and her own Forget Me Not to excellent ribbons in the same section for a banner weekend all around.Special congratulations to Virginia and Blue A Kiss for their Reserve Championship in the Large Pony Hunter section on the HITS Desert circuit in Thermal, California over the weekend. Virginia also earned ribbons in the Children's Jumpers aboard her new horse, Blink. Great job!Leslie Kopp and Fenwick added to their ribbon collection with impressive placings in the 3'3" Amateur-Owner, 36 and over, section.The young Coffee Boy impressed the judges in Florida, with ribbons in every class of the Pre-Green 3- and 4-Year-Olds with trainer Denice Perry riding. His prizes included two second-placed ribbons over fences in good company.Skyland Farm sends best wishes to our friends and neighbors in Virginia, where some areas around Skyland's Middleburg home base received between 2 and 3 feet of snow during the blizzard.
