The Culpeper Blues
Skyland Farm riders not only faced stiff competition during the HITS Showday National Horse Show, but they also withstood some serious heat during the weekend of July 7-8. With temperatures in the triple digits, keeping cool on course was also a part of the challenge.Nevertheless, riders Colleen Hahn and Alex Tippitt met that challenge during the Culpeper, Virginia, horse show and brought home top ribbons for Skyland Farm.Aboard her own HJ Vasco, Colleen won two of the four Low Adult Amateur Jumper classes for the division Championship, while 15-year-old Alex earned blue in the Modified Children's Adult Amateur Hunter division, scoring enough points with Skyland's Placido for the division Reserve Championship."Alex is leasing Placido for the hunters and El Cano for the jumpers. She comes from a dressage background with Dianna Rankin at Madeira School [McLean, Virginia] and has a great foundation on the flat. Alex has an exciting future in the hunter/jumper world with two lovely horses," said trainer Denice Perry."Colleen was awesome. She worked really hard and had practiced for a few weeks, and it paid off," added Perry of Colleen's impressive performances.
