WEF 8 Was Great

Skyland Farm riders and horses enjoyed a fantastic Week 8 during the Winter Equestrian Festival circuit, February 25-March 1 in Wellington, Florida.

Danielle DeRisio collected the Low Children’s Hunter championship aboard Wyndmont’s Kinsale. The pair won three out of the five classes in the section, an impressive feat in a field of 45 entries. A special thanks to trainers Ken and Emily Smith of Ashland Farm for allowing Danielle to show Kinsale this week and to Chrissy Geer for her training expertise!

Elizabeth Wiley and her hunter Say Again and Crescendo made their presence known in the Adult Amateur Hunter, 36-49, section. Say Again placed first and second, while Crescendo also collected ribbons in three of the five classes.

Leslie Kopp piloted El Cano to second place in a Low Children’s/Adult Jumper class, an excellent performance in a tough class of 21 entries.

During Week 7, Leslie and The Impressionist and Emma Pell aboard Gynmagic Cover Girl scored ribbons in their respective sections as well, for a rewarding two weeks at WEF.

Emma Pell Joins the Parade

Emma Pell and Glynmagic Cover Girl enjoyed the Parade of Champions during Week 5 of the Winter Equestrian Festival circuit in Wellington, Florida.

Emma and Glynmagic Cover Girl earned championship honors in the Small/Medium Children’s Pony Hunter section, sponsored by Autism Speaks. The pair earned a first and second over fences and second in the under saddle for top honors in the competitive section with 19 competitors. Emma also added ribbons to her collection with excellent performances in the Equitation, 11 and under, section.

Emma is leasing Glynmagic Cover Girl, a 9-year-old Welsh pony (Rosmel’s Bey Cracker–Bristol Erin), owned by Schuyler Gobin and bred by Diane C. Herger.

“I knew “Coa Coa” when Schuyler had her as a green pony and always loved her,” said trainer Denice Perry of the bay mare. “I love the combination of Emma and the pony, and I’m looking forward to seeing the bright future they have together.”
