Ribbons in Raleigh

Corrado and Leslie Kopp

The Skyland Farm team spent two fun weeks in Raleigh, North Carolina, attending the Jump For The Children and RMI Raleigh Benefit horse shows in November at the James B. Hunt Horse Complex.

There were many highlights, including first and last ribbons, new partnerships and breakthrough moments as the 2015 show season comes to a conclusion.

The beautiful gray Corrado partnered with Leslie Kopp and Chiara Carney for excellent ribbons in the Adult Amateur, 36-49, section and the 3’6″ Performance Hunters both weeks.

Emma Pell and Glynmagic Cover Girl won their final class together at RMI in the Medium Pony Hunter section. “Coa Coa headed back to her owner, Schyler Gobin, before finding a new child to continue her winning ways with,” said trainer Denice Perry. “We will all miss her. She’s a great pony!”

Many blue ribbons adorned the Skyland Farm banner during the two weeks, with contributions from Crescendo and Elizabeth Wiley, The Impressionist and Leslie and Forget Me Not with Emma.

A special shout-out to Alex Tippett, who won with her new mount Amelie during their first show together. Congratulations are also in order for Leslie and her newest partner News Flash, who garnered good ribbons in the Adult Amateur section during their debut show.

The Skyland Farm team looks forward to a great show season in 2016, which officially begins in a few short weeks on December 1.

From East to West

Skyland Farm clients and friends collected a variety of tricolor ribbons over the past several weeks, from East Coast to West Coast.

A special congratulations to Virginia Bonnie for earning the West Coast Pony Equitation Reserve Championship during the Los Angeles National Horse Show! Virginia guided Prom Queen to the equitation honors and garnered ribbons in the Medium Pony Hunter section as well as third in the LA National Medium Pony Hunter Derby.

Virginia also piloted her Wink And Smile to top ribbons in the Small Pony Hunters, including a victory in the conformation over fences class and a second place in the model. Great job!

Former Virginian and long-time Skyland friend Virginia Fout rode her Classified to excellent results at the LA National, including blue-ribbon results in the 3’3″ Amateur-Owner, 36 and over, section. Congratulations to all of our West Coast friends!

On the East Coast, Skyland Farm riders traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Jump For The Children 30th Anniversary Show. A variety of ribbons decorated the Skyland banner, with blue-ribbon efforts from El Cano and Alex Tippett in the jumpers and Say Again with Denice Perry and Elizabeth Wiley in the hunters.

At the end of the weekend, Elizabeth and Say Again captured the Pre-Adult Hunter Championship in their début outing together.
