Pedigree
Copperman’s pedigree includes many stars of the famed Hosteiner Verband, including his sire Contender, a legend in global sport horse breeding. Contender’s famous offspring include show jumping and dressage champions at the highest levels. Contender was one of the most influential sons of Calypso II and also carried the influential lines of the famed Holsteiner Cor de la Bryere.
Contender won the 1987 Adelheidsdorf stallion performance test with a jumping index of 146.62. During his show jumping career, Contender competed at the Advanced Level before retiring to stud. He produced 80 licensed sons and 59 state premium mares. A few of Contender’s most famous sons include: two-time Riders Tour winner Checkmate (ridden by Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum); two-time European Show Jumping Champion Montender (ridden by Marco Kutscher), the stallion Contango (sire of Steffan Peters’ Ravel) and the licensed stallion Contendro I.
Copperman’s dam Chanell carries the superb jumping bloodlines of Cor de la Bryere through her sire Caretino and grandsire Caletto II. Caretino’s impressive performance career included grand prix and Nations Cup appearances with Ludger Beerbaum and Bo Kristoffersen before he was called for stallion duty. Caretino’s offspring have appeared on the international show jumping stage with such riders as Alison Firestone Robitaille, Janne Friederike Meyer, Markus Merschformann and Rolf-Goran Bengtsson to name just a few.
