Blush and Eddyn Molden

Team Skyland members made their presence known in Lexington, Kentucky and Lexington, Virginia the week of August 9-15.

Blush, owned by Mary Lou and Rebecca Glover and ridden by Eddyn Molden, showed in the highly competitive Small Green Pony section at the Kentucky Summer Classic with top ribbons in every class. “She was super and so consistent!” said trainer Denice Perry. During the following USEF Pony Finals competition, Blush and Eddyn kept up their stellar performances. Blush finished seventh overall in the Small Green Pony section, was sixth over fences, and was awarded Best Presented. Special thanks to Eddyn for presenting Blush so beautifully and to the amazing Orlando for his preparation. Blush also received the coveted champion Virginia-bred Award. Additionally, she was awarded the highest score of the division in the under saddle by one of the judges.

Meanwhile in Lexington Virginia, Meghan Finlay’s Chabalouba Sun was champion in the 3’3” Performance Hunter division with Chiara Parlagreco in the irons. “Chaba” then returned with his owner, Meghan, and received the reserve championship in the 3’3” Amateur-Owner Hunters.

“She had the most amazing rounds on Sunday, scoring an 87 and 89 in the Handy!” said Denice. “They were spectacular to watch.” Meghan was also an impressive second in the EMO/VHSA Adult Equitation on the Flat Final.

Brook Ballhaus and Little Gun

Brooke Ballhaus and her horse Little Gun topped the Children’s Jumper Classic and were Children’s Jumper champions. Brooke was also awarded the Best Junior Jumper Rider award. “They are an amazing pair,” said Denice. “Brooke also had some top equitation ribbons on her beautiful gray Beverly’s Beebop.”

Numerous ribbons were also won by Mosie Pennington and Cirena, Michele Trufant and her Itchy Garrett, Dorothy Stroh on her Balou Z, and Meghan Finlay and her Sofia Carr.

“They all rode beautifully, and the horses where all super,” said Denice.

Skyland would also like to welcome Natalie Wasson and Vigo De Cento to our team. Natalie and “Liam” earned the reserve placing in the EMO/VHSA Junior Equitation Flat Final as well as other equitation ribbons. In addition, Natalie also placed seventh in the EMO/VHSA Horsemanship Final!
