Super Results For Skyland Farm at WIHS Regionals
The Skyland Farm team spent a lovely week at beautiful Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia, for the WIHS Regional/Zone 3 Championships, October 14-18.
With the fall decorations and the scenic Piedmont of Virginia as a backdrop, the ribbons and accolades were more meaningful, especially during this challenging year of COVID-19.
Meghan and Sofia Car’s incredible consistency paid off through the week. They captured the Children’s Jumper reserve championship with second-placed ribbons in every class and also claimed the USHJA Zone 3 reserve championship.
Michele Trufant and Itchy Garrett also earned a Zone reserve championship with consistent performances in the Low Adult Amateur Jumpers.
“I’m so proud of everyone!” said trainer Denice Perry. “They all rode amazing. Throughout the weekend no one had a single rail down, and they got ribbons in every class. Michele rode so well on her Thoroughbred that the jumper judge made a point to tell her it was a pleasure to watch her over the three days.”
In the hunters, Mosie Pennington and Twizzler continued their solid partnership with the Children’s Small Pony Hunter reserve championship. The duo placed first and fourth over fences and second under saddle for owner Judith Hahn.
Prime Time and Michele earned the championship ribbon in the Thoroughbred Hunters with a win and sixth over fences and third in the under saddle. Michele’s Dancing Ollie also earned ribbons in the same section and won the under saddle.
Meghan Finlay’s Chabalouba Sun captured the championship in the Modified Hunters, winning both over fences classes of the section with Denice in the irons.
“We had a super show, and it was so much fun,” said Perry. “They’ve done such a great job renovating Morven Park, and the management did a super job making this a very special show.”
