Grand WEF Finale

The Skyland Farm horses and riders concluded the 2015 Winter Equestrian Festival circuit in Wellington, Florida, on March 29 with a variety of accolades and great show ring mileage.

Emma Pell and Glynmagic Cover Girl had a strong finish during WEF Weeks 11 and 12, winning the reserve championship in the Small/Medium Children’s Pony Hunter section this week, which followed on the heels of their championship performance during WEF 11.

“The Small/Medium Children’s division is one of the most highly contested on Pony Island,’” said trainer Denice Perry. “There are always strong riders as well as good competition in that section.”

To top off the season, Emma also earned enough points and top ribbons to capture the WEF Circuit Reserve Championship in that section, a huge honor.

“Emma rode great throughout the winter, and she and the pony are a super match,” said Denice. “I wish them the best of luck this spring moving up to the Medium Pony Hunter division. I think they have a bright future.

“We are also excited to announce that Emma has a new small pony. She will be bringing Forget Me Not back to Virginia, and we look forward to a great show season with this wonderful pony,” Denice added.

Emma also placed second in the WIHS Pony Medal on Forget Me Not, a great ribbon in a competitive class during WEF 12.

Elizabeth Wiley also had a winning grand finale at WEF with both of her hunters. She and Crescendo placed first, second and fourth on final day in a section of the Adult Amateur, 36-49, Hunters, and she also guided Say Again to first- and second-placed ribbons during their section.

“Elizabeth really put it all together for her finale,” said Denice. “The horses went beautifully, and she gave them great rides. Kudos!”

Skyland Farm’s Coffee Boy also made his show ring debut at the end of the season, taking top ribbons home from the Pre-Green Hunter 3- & 4-Year-Old section during Week 12.

A special congratulations to Leslie Kopp for her purchase of El Cano and her continued lease of Ainsley Treptow’s The Impressionist.

Denice and Roy Perry and Skyland Farm congratulate the entire team on a great winter season in Florida, including Rubin Contreras, Emma Pell, Elizabeth Wiley, Samuel Aceves and Leslie Kopp.
